Your responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and optimise video ingest, encoding, transcoding, and processing components.
  • Participate in technical design and architecture discussions.
  • Integrate, customise, and extend FFmpeg-based solutions.
  • Investigate complex issues related to video quality, performance, synchronisation, and compatibility.
  • Build near-real-time systems with a focus on latency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, streaming, player, product, and other development teams.
  • Evaluate new codecs, hardware platforms, and video-processing technologies. 
What we're looking for:
  • At least five years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern C++.
  • Practical experience with FFmpeg and video-processing pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of video encoding, transcoding, and compression.
  • Knowledge of codecs such as H.264, H.265, AV1, AAC, and AC-3.
  • Familiarity with formats and protocols such as MPEG-TS, MP4, CMAF, HLS, and MPEG-DASH.
  • Experience building high-performance, multithreaded, or near-real-time applications.
  • Strong understanding of latency, concurrency, memory management, profiling, and optimisation.
  • Experience developing software for Linux or other POSIX systems.
  • Ability to independently solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience contributing to technical design decisions and mentoring other engineers.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
What will be considered as a bonus:
  • Experience with large-scale or distributed video-processing systems.
  • Experience with live video and adaptive bitrate encoding workflows.
  • Knowledge of DCT-based compression and optimisation techniques.
  • Experience with GPU, FPGA, ASIC, or other hardware acceleration.
  • Experience with hardware encoders or vendor-specific media SDKs.
  • Knowledge of HDR, colour spaces, pixel formats, deinterlacing, or video-quality measurement.
  • Contributions to FFmpeg or other open-source multimedia projects.
